ScooterMatic Junior: from the visit to the production up to Trofei Malossi

It is written ScooterMatic Junior but it is pronounced possibility: the one Francesco and Lorenzo had thanks to participating in the Trofei Malossi contest, an idea born during the 2019 season, which will be replicated in 2020. Meanwhile, the last act of the 2019 season has just been completed: the winners awarding. On Friday, January 24, the appointment was set at the Malossi headquarters in Calderara di Reno, just a few kilometers from Bologna where staff and the Malossi family were waiting for the two guys for the award ceremony and to give them a chance.
To get to know the Malossi production line closely, with a guided tour of the headquarters. Starting from the management and administration offices, passing through the warehouse where the products, after the packaging operations, wait to start their journey to the world, up to the production area where the ideas become multi-dimensional projects and take shape and body.

Then the boys landed in the technical department that is divided between a PC screen and a test bench, where acceleration tests are also performed. Over there you can look up and get lost among the Trofei Malossi protagonists blow-ups camping on the walls or, even better, switch between the motorcycles and mopeds that colonize the vast space in geometric order. “A place where you can breathe harmony. The same feeling of serenity mixed with absolute professionalism that I had felt at the Trofei” observes Lorenzo and where every meter brings back to memory the hours he lived on a Saturday a few months earlier. A day spent under the ScooterMatic Junior insignia, the contest where time and skills compete with a cylinder, a variator, a muffler and a carburetor that guys have to replace “a moment – says Francesco – to deal with yourself and your skills. Where you can be surprised or disappointed but you have the opportunity to test yourself.”

And whether it’s your own moped, as for Lorenzo in Vallelunga “where I arrived first in the morning, with the scooter loaded on my mother’s car and many expectations in the trunk” or a rented one for Francesco on the Magione circuit, doesn’t matter. Because gas matters, the one to be opened on the track after taking the fundamental step from engine tuning. Although, to contribute to the jury evaluation, order and cleanliness in mounting operations are scrupulously observed by Malossi mechanics.

From aspiring drivers, the two winners will become full-fledged drivers thanks to the participation, free of charge, in the ScooterMatic category race for the 2020 season which will start on March 20 and 21 in Modena.
For Francesco, the appointment is set in Racalmuto, a circuit a few steps from home and from the garage he works when school commitments allow him to. The garage where he received the news of being the champion, in a curious way. “A friend passing shouted” Greetings! “And I thought he was referring to the new car I had just purchased. Later, after reading the Trofei Malossi staff message, I understood. And I struggled to believe it, for the emotion. ”
While Modena will be the destination that will bring Lorenzo into the racing world. Maybe thinking about his first minibike donated by his uncle or thinking about this opportunity that will close the contest experience to open, hopefully, the pilot one.
